In a flashback, Butch was hired by someone (probably Patrick), He was given a big sword (in several pieces, in a case), took a bag of weapons and headed down a subway train (THE subway train) with the guy who hired him. Patrick got off in the 20's, and Butch gets off a station later, in an underground tunnel. He climbs upstairs and finds himself in the castle.
Butch comes down the stairs of the dining room and meets everyone. Much surprise. Henry decides to take Butch to show him the Pattern in the castle, and asks Irene to show him where it is. Mki and Pauline head back upstairs.
