The wife of the tyrant king, but is she the mother of his murdering daughter, or a younger second wife?
She carries the dead king's sword, wrapped in cloth. A naked sword is the traditional badge of office of a king, after the dynasty founder who swore not to sheath his sword until the kingdom extends from sea to sea.
When he was strangled by his own daughter, the tyrant king grasped for his sword, but he hesitated to strike until it was too late and his strength and life were gone. Now, whoever touches the blade, is visited by the king's ghost.
Her political status is uncertain: the king left no heir, because his wife bore him no sons and his brothers, uncles and close cousins all died in wars on were murdered in intrigues. A woman can not ascend to the throne (or bear the naked sword, as we say in the kingdom), and while the queen is still an important political figure, she has no (male) child to put on the throne and can not rule in her own name.
