V for Vendetta

Saw Constantine the other day, which didn’t suck as much as it could, once you get past the fact that it’s about a different character who has no relation to JC from the comics.

But it does add a data point in support of what Warren Ellis said in relation to rumors about V for Vendetta: I’m constantly fascinated at how Hollywood can always find the hook of an Alan Moore work and then toss only that hook away.
Now Newsarama have posted the transcript of the V for Vendetta press conference, and a pessimistic commentary by Rich Johnston. However, I find stuff to be hopeful about in the clips from the press conference on the film’s web site. For example, the bit where James Purefoy, cast as V, says he’s going to be wearing the mask the whole time. And the press conference decor has the spray-painted logo, rather than the metallic one Johnston worries about. So fingers crossed.
Although Genkin is probably right.

Comics chuckles

Both of these links from Uncle Bear: the silly Spider-Man’s Greatest Bible Stories!, and the shiffer-friendly Comic characters motivational posters.

Warren Ellis’ blog with its about comics category has lovely daft panels from old comics, like the one floating about here.
Linking to SuperDickery would be superfluous by now, wouldn’t it?

Edited June 19th, 2010 to add an updated link for the strip above (“What’s holding up our milks?”).
