Raphael Carter’s Honeyguide Weblog hasn’t been updated since April, but he had a good link to a great site about
Stomatopods (Mantis Shrimp), which are inarguably the coolest crustaceans on earth: “Stomatopods have the most sophisticated visual system in the world”… “Stomatopod strikes are the one of the fastest known movements in the animal kingdom.”…”The force of the strike of a large Californian species approaches that of a 22 caliber bullet”. They’re smart, too (and I have Jack Cohen’s testimony on that…).

Evelyn Nesbit
A search on the name Evelyn turned up an interesting site about the Story of Evelyn Nesbit and the Thaw-White Murder:
As a sixteen year old girl, model, actress and Gibson Girl Evelyn Nesbit was debauched by prominent New York architect, Stanford White. On June 25, 1906, White paid for taking Evelyn’s virginity when her new husband, the wild millionaire Harry K. Thaw, tooks White’s life on the rooftop garden of Madison Square Garden.
I was looking for men named Evelyn. Besides the obvious one: Evelyn Waugh. I think that any male Evelyn’s born in contemporary times can be attributed to him…
