The most convulated MS-Word

The most convulated MS-Word to logical-HTML converter ever:
a Perl script that uses COM to get the text and paragraph styles from the Word doc, writes them to an HTML file enclosed in php tags that reverse the Hebrew text.
I ftp it to corky.net, look at it in the browser, php does it’s bit, and voila:
http://corky.net/dotan/roleplaying/nephilimphp.html
Now to save the file, and ftp it back again…

The Perl script is here.

Here’s something interesting from the GURPS Transhuman Space mailing list: a map of all the world’s known spaceports. Actually, these are just launching sites. And they list Palmachim as well. Heck, if Israel can have a launch pad, anyone can.

Here’s a useful article: Oliver Wrede explains UserLand’s weird and wonderful software (“Radio UserLand”) to people who haven’t been Davewatching for X years. Very worth reading if you want to understand the cool application I’m using to write this :o).

A couple of crisises which

A couple of crisises which Superheroes could tackle:

Brazilian oil rig stabilised. The Brazilian state oil company says engineers have stopped its damaged off-shore oil rig from sinking. [BBC News: world]

Oil rigs are fascinating – giant structures at sea, they would be an excellent setting for an action scene, especially a sinking oil rig…

Struggle to reach US crash victims. Rescuers struggle to help victims of a train crash in remote Iowa farmland, in which one person died and 90 were injured. [BBC News: world]

Notice that in both cases, rescue operations are hampered by (a) weather and (b) geographically remote location (remote? that train crashed in Iowa!)

I could use either of these in my superhero scenario, Nephilim.
