Charles Stross, who previously outlined what his ideal writing machine would be like, tries out the AlphaSmart Dana, which he describes as a Z88 with a good screen, a non-rubber keyboard, 128Mb of non-volatile storage and a wireless ethernet card
. The manufacturer’s site mentions they have an Israeli reseller.
The last time I actually had a “portable” writing tool, it was an electric typewriter which used thermal paper and printed dot-matrix style. The only laptop I had was heavy, and got too hot to actually hold on your lap…
