An article about the exploration

An article about the exploration of Pluto from the NY Times (free registration required), reprinted in yesterday’s Haaretz, discusses a proposed NASA mission and also how scientists pieced together what we do know about that planet by basically looking very carefully at a dim blob of light in the night sky.

The article provides plenty of inspiration for Science Fiction stories or roleplaying games, especially modern or even futuristic Call of Cthulhu / Delta Green games: Apparently, One of the things adding urgency to the NASA mission is the concern that by 2020, the atmosphere of Pluto will freeze entirely, and not thaw until it comes back along it’s elliptic orbit around 2200…

More about Pluto from the New York Times.

The number #1 bug in

The number #1 bug in Mozilla from my point of view is this one: Problems with the BiDi input widgets (well, it’s #1 for me, it’s bug #83197 for Bugzilla). No one has so much as added a comment there since August 2001. This is a bit of a bummer since I really like Mozilla, but most of what I do online is spend time in Hebrew-language forums (OK, one in particular). Writing a simple forum message just now locked my Mozilla into 100% CPU usage.

The Underground People

The Origin of Underground People, legends about elves and other hidden creatures, is a collection of creation myths (folklore stories, really), while THE DECEPTION OF THE DEPTHS: Humanity and the Ocean of Secrecy is a grand unified conspiracy theory tying together Elves, UFOs, Cthulhu and the second coming of Christ.

Userland say they fixed the way that text is stored in Radio, so that you can use your native character set without it becoming scrambled into &crap;. Somehow, I doubt it’ll work, but let’s see:
